Please advise on how I can unlock D-Link DVG-1402S so I can configure it to use with SIPphone. Details will be much appreciated. The device is branded for Lingo Service.

Thanks,

Zeemaco

I got this from D-link just before they posted the FAQ that they wouldn't support the VOIP functions on the dvg-1402s/L

This for the current (winter 2004) Lingo version, firmware L4.0S34 boot rom L4.0B03 at least. CSR didn't ask about my version, so pass should work on all. D-Link will probably change with firmware update if it becomes too popular. Please note successes or failures with particular versions in comments. Include vendor, (att lingo etc.) & firmware & boot prom rev from main page.)

But getting a firmware dump would be _really_ cool.

Does anyone know how to get the firmware dumped?

If you meant some cool stuff happening for developing DVG-1402S VoIP router open source code, perhaps a link to the site would be appreciated.

Would be nice, by the way, have you seen the new firmware for the WRT54G & GS from Sveasoft? It has a SIP server included in one of the versions. Here is part of their announcement.

Quote:
New Talisman Firmware

The upcoming Talisman firmware will deliver unmatched functionality for wireless routers. Talisman will support routers from Linksys, Belkin, Buffalotech, and several more manufacturers and will come in a variety of firmware "flavors" each with a feature set for specific needs.

Talisman - VoIP
The VoIP build includes a full SIP server including VoIP QoS, SIP NAT, and support for attached ATA or Wifi SIP devices. SIP calls are handled directly on the router itself or can be proxied to external SIP servers and providers.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately for me, the site is mostly for Linksys WRT54G & GS routers, not for DLink DVG-1402S VoIP router.

If any of you tries it before me, please post results here.

Thanks.

That is an old S19 beta firmware that may not function properly on a DVG-1402S device.

Hi everybody!

I had exactly the same problem as many others here: bought a 1402S/L model (locked to Lingo), the firmware got automatically updated, and access to the SIP configuration was lost.

My solution was to replace the firmware of 1402S/L with the one of 1402S:

1. Download the lastest firmware file of 1402S from support.sipphone.com;

2. Set your computer as an FTP server, using either IIS that comes with Windows XP Professional (install it from Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Add/Remove Windows Components) or some other FTP server software (you can find a lot of free stuff on the web); or even a public anonymous (!) FTP server, if you have access to one...

3. Use the option "Firmware update" on the web interface of 1402S/L (point to the above firmware file on your FTP server).

The update process takes only a minute or two Smile

Note that the default IP address of the router gets changed to 192.168.0.1 - so you have to switch off and on your LAN connection with the router...

Now I am enjoying full functionality of my router! Thanks, Chris, for the firmware!

Best regards to everyone here

Kacper

Does anyone here know if the Dlink 1402s can have the two ports register to different services? I want to use like FWD on one port and SIPPhone on the other.

Furthermore, can it support 2 simultaneous calls using g729 or must one of them go 7.11?

DLink DVG-1402S VoIP router does not support multiple VoSPs. Linksys PAP2 does support multiple VoSPs, but it is locked to Vonage/ATT/your VoSP because no one seems to be able to unlock the unit unless the unit is running with the v2.0.9 firmware.

Unfortunately the PAP2 supports only one call usi9ng a codec other than g711 the second call must go via g711. I wish these device manufacturers would wake up!

I buy the PAP2s unlocked. I have no problem gettiing them.
